The Project Portfolio Office (PPO) has four primary areas of responsibility:

The Project Portfolio Office supports the University
IT governance activities. This means:
- Acting as a focal point for University IT planning;
- Analysing University-Wide IT expenditure and investment.
- Maintaining the Project

The Project Portfolio Office also has responsibility for leading
improvements in the University's project management practices and maintaining
the Project Management Framework (PMF). The
PMF outlines standard project management processes and procedures, including
document templates. The PPO facilitates training and support for project managers
and steering committee members. A major initiative of the PPO is to improve
the quality of project management for projects using the framework.

The PPO also has specific IT Services department planning and reporting
responsibility, including the preparation of the IT Investment and Analysis

The Project Portfolio Manager has strategic
liaison responsibilities, with the Finance and HR Teams for the Division of Technology Information and Learning Support. The Project Portfolio Manager also maintains strong links with external contacts:
- CAUDIT
- Educause
- Gartner
- GITC
- Suppliers of Hardware and Software
