You can print to the printers in the computer labs once you are connected to QUT's wireless network via your Macintosh laptop computer. These instructions are based on Mac OS X 10.4.

  1. Click Apple -> System Preferences.

  2. Click Print & Fax.


     Click Print & Fax.


  3. Click '+'


    Click '+'

  4. Click Default Browser in the top left, then press and hold the Option button on your keyboard and click More Printers.

  5.  Click Default Browser in the top left, then press and hold the Option button on your keyboard and click More Printers.


  6. Select Advanced from the top drop down box.
    • Select Windows Printer via Samba from the second drop down box.
    • Enter QUT Printing in the "Device Name" field for black and white printing, or QUT Colour Printing for colour.
    • Enter smb://qutad\nXXXXXXX:password@qutprintgp/students in the "Device URI" field for black and white printing, or enter smb://qutad\nXXXXXXX:password@qutprintgp/students_col for colour, where nXXXXXXX is your student username, and password is your QUT-Access password.
    • Select Generic from the "Printer Model" drop down menu, and click Add.

  7. Select File -> Print from any application and select the printer named QUT Printing for black and white printing. Select QUT Colour Printing if you are printing in colour.
  8.  Select File -> Print from any application and select the printer named QUT Printing for black and white printing. Select QUT Colour Printing if you are printing in colour.

  9. Retrieve your printouts from a Print Station in any central student laboratory. For further instructions please visit http://www.qps.qut.edu.au/services/cardsystem/instructionsprinting.php.

  10. You will need to repeat these instructions everytime you change your password
