About wireless networksA wireless network provides convenient way of accessing internet and other online resources without having to attach your laptop to a network port. Information is transferred via electromagnetic radio waves instead of hard wired network cables. After getting connected to the QUT Wireless network, you can check your email, access QUT Virtual, Library web site and access resources on OLT. However, you will find that the wireless network normally operates at slower speeds than a wired network. It is highly recommended that you do not use wireless network to download large files or streaming audio/video files. Recommended Wireless AdaptersYou need a wireless network interface card that is already installed and configured in your laptop computer or a PDA. The wireless card can either be in-built into your device or you can buy an external wireless card.
