QUT provides students with access to computer laboratories for educational purposes; close to each of QUT’s libraries, and within faculty buildings.

Email, access to the Internet, library services, word processing and printing facilities are available from all lab computers. Specialist software is also available on computers in faculty based labs to support particular courses.

You will have to enter your QUT-Access username and password to use any of the computers in QUT’s laboratories.

Please check the labels attached to each PC in the central computing labs for specific details on how to operate the computers in the labs. It is important to remember to logout when you have finished using the computers so that no one can use your QUT-Access username and password.

Refer to the Lab Locations and Availability page for more details.

Adaptive technology laboratories
Adaptive technology laboratories are available for QUT students who, due to disability, cannot use the regular student computing facilities.

These laboratories are located in the libraries at Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and Carseldine campuses and are equipped with specialised computing equipment enabling students to independently access the various electronic and print media essential for academic success.

The specialised software provided includes a speech output system and a speech recognition system to allow students to work with virtually any Windows application. Other specialised equipment includes adjustable desks and chairs, CCTVs for enlarging the text on printed matter, scanners, 19” monitors and a Braille embosser.

For more information contact the Equity Section on 3138 2802.

If you would like any additional assistance relating to QUT’s central computing laboratories, please contact the IT Helpdesk located on each campus. The IT Helpdesk may not be able to assist you with queries about non-central computing laboratories (i.e. faculty based computing labs).
