The QUT Secure Access Service (QUT SAS) provides a secure way for staff and
students to connect to QUT's IT services using an external Internet Service
Provider (e.g. Telstra, Optus etc.) or from other universities. QUT SAS can be
used with both, modem and a broadband connection.
There is no cost for using this service except the charges to connect to the
Internet (i.e. your Internet Service Provider charges).
What do you need to use this service?
1. Computer Accounts
- QUT-Access username and password
- Internet Service Provider (ISP) account (connection to the Internet)

What are the benefits?
- SAS provides a secure connection to QUT's IT services as though you were
at work for the cost of a local call using an any Internet Service Provider
Account or from any other universities.
- Easy access to QUT IT Services

- Internet/WWW
- QUT Virtual
- Online Learning and Teaching (OLT)
- QUT Library catalogue and online databases
- QUT Diary
- Files/documents on Faculty/School servers (subject to Faculty/School
policies)
- Printers on Faculty/School networks (subject to Faculty/School policies)
Service Availability
- Available to all QUT staff and students who have a QUT-Access username and
password and an Internet Service Provider account.
- Subject to you being able to connect to your Internet Service Provider.
- Subject to scheduled maintenance on the QUT Network. (Wednesday 10:00 pm
- 7:00 am).
- Unix (Linux, FreeBSD) operating systems are not supported by
this service.
- QUT support for this service is limited to standalone PC's. There is no
networking support for PC's connected behind private networks/firewalls.
