What is Secure Access Service (QUT SAS)?
QUT Secure Access Service provides a cost effective and a secure way to connect to IT services at QUT ( e.g. email, QUT Virtual, library catalogue and online databases.) Staff and postgraduate research students can also access the files on the Faculty/School server and also print to Faculty/School's network printers.

What are the advantages of using QUT SAS?
Cost effective
QUT SAS allows you to save on non-local, interstate and international modem telephone calls by providing Internet access for the cost of a local phone call to a local Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Access to QUTs IT services
QUT SAS provides access to most of QUT's IT services (e.g. file and print services, Library databases and electronic journals, QUT Diary etc.), just as if you were in your office at QUT.

Security
QUT SAS connection provides secure access to all QUT IT services (e.g. printing, file access, QUT Diary etc.,) by encrypting all data sent between your computer and QUT like passwords.

What QUT software can I use with QUT SAS?
All QUT's software will work with QUT SAS. (e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape, Eudora, QUT Diary etc.)

Can I use QUT SAS on my home cable connection?
Yes, QUT SAS will work with most cable providers (e.g. Optus, Telstra).

Can I use QUT SAS from overseas?
Yes, you can use QUT SAS from overseas. You should use the QUT Global Roaming Service to connect back to QUT's IT Services.

What Operating systems does QUT SAS support?
QUT SAS supports Windows 2000/XP, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.

Will QUT SAS work with my firewall software?
QUT SAS is known to have problems with Panda and Outspot firewall softwares. You will have to uninstall the firewall software in order for QUT SAS to work.
