Click on the links below to configure your software to use your QUT Dial-in connection

Outlook Express 6

  1. Start Outlook Express 6.

  2. Select Tools -> Accounts...

  3. Click the Add button and select Mail... in the Internet Accounts window.

  4. Enter your name in the Display name field and click the Next button.

  5. Enter your QUT e-mail address (i.e. j.bloggs@qut.edu.au or j.bloggs@student.qut.edu.au) and click the Next button.

  6. Select IMAP from the My incoming mail server is a... drop-down list.

    • Enter mail.qut.edu.au in the Incoming mail [POP3, IMAP or HTTP] server field.

    • Enter mail.qut.edu.au in the Outgoing mail [SMTP] server field.

    • Click the Next button.

  7. Enter your QUT-Access username (i.e. jbloggs or n1234567), un-check the Remember password and click the Next button.

  8. Click the Finish button.

  9. Select the Mail tab and select your email account (imap.qut.edu.au). Click on the Properties button.

  10. Select the Connections tab and un-tick the Always connect to this account using option.

  11. Select the Servers tab, tick the My server requires authentication option and click the Settings... button.

  12. Select Use same setting as my incoming mail server and click the OK button.

  13. Click the OK button to exit the Properties window.

  14. Click the Close button to exit theInternet Accounts window.

  15. Click the Yes button when prompted to download folders from the mail server.

  16. Enter your QUT-Access username and password in the Logon - imap.qut.edu.au window.

  17. Wait while your folders are being downloaded.

  18. In Outlook express, select Tools -> Options...

  19. Select the General tab. Select Do not connect under the If my computer is not connected at this time: drop-down list and click the OK button.

  20. Re-start Outlook Express.
