Using the HPC Mass File Store (hpc-fs)

The file store is accessible from the HPC compute resources (Vega and Lyra) as well as from Windows, Mac OS, or Linux workstations. The name of the file store is "hpc-fs" for Windows or "hpc-fs.qut.edu.au" for Mac and Linux.

Mapping a network drive on Windows XP

The following instructions assume you are on a QUT computer on campus. If you are at home, this method will not work unless you are using the SAS client (see Off Campus Access).

  • Open My Computer
  • Open the Menu, Tools -> Map Network Drive
  • Choose any available drive letter
  • For the folder type: \\hpc-fs\username (the username is your QUT Username)
  • Click Finish.

If you are asked for a username and password, please enter your QUT Username and Password.

Mapping a network drive on a Macintosh

  • Open Finder
  • Open the Menu, Go -> Connect to Server
  • In the 'Server Address' field type: smb://hpc-fs.qut.edu.au/username (use your QUT Username)
  • When you are asked for a domain, username and password, please enter QUTAD, QUT Username and Password.
  • Click OK.
