The AccessGrid Node room is located on the top floor of the Library at Gardens Point (Room V713, Level 7, V Block).

At present, the AccessGrid Node at QUT is a state-of-the-art multimedia & VISAC facility that is well suited to high-quality video conferencing facilities, large-scale distributed meetings, collaborative teamwork sessions, seminars, lectures, tutorials, and training. However, the AccesGrid Node concept is intended to provide additional functionality well beyond the above usage. The idea is to provide a compelling and productive user work environment for large-scale and/or geographically dispersed scientific and technical collaborations involving multiple teams working together.

Usage Policy

For full details on the QUT Access Grid Usage Policy, please read the Usage Policy (v1.2)

Currently, the QUT A-G Node capabilities include

  • high-bandwidth internet connections to other A-G Nodes globally
  • support for single or multiple A-G Node connections
  • high quality audio and video on large-format displays
  • real-time shared/multi-site presentation technologies, eg. distributed powerpoint and electronic whiteboards

AccessGrid Node capabilities that are currently being developed, tested and prototyped for future implementation include

  • ability to run real-time shared applications for collaboration and/or analysis of research data and results by team members located at any of the participating A-G nodes
  • ability to access the Grid - a vast collection of globally distributed & shared computing, application, data, storage, network, and human resources.

AccessGrid Nodes are a part of the new Grid computing paradigm, where standards and technology are still being developed to support a vision centred on large scale resource sharing intended to bring people, computing systems and information resources closer together.

QUT's AccessGrid Node facilities will grow in functionality as the Grid and AccessGrid technologies rapidly mature.
