[Print-friendly version]

The use of the AccessGrid Node requires booking both the room (V713 at GP) and High Performance Computing and Research Support (HPC) staff.

To book this resource please contact the HPC and Research Support Group.

Costs

The AccessGrid Node uses the Internet (IP) rather than ISDN which results in dramatic savings. The total cost depends on the location and number of participating sites. The network communication costs are approximately $1/min per connected international site.

For example, a 45 minute session between QUT and the Chinese Academy of Sciences incurred Internet Access Service costs of approximately $47. By comparison, the cost for a videoconference over ISDN (see below) would have been approximately $800.

Usage Policy

For full details on the QUT Access Grid Usage Policy, please read the Usage Policy (v1.2) [29KB]

Related Services

In addition to the AccessGrid Node facilities, QUT also provides a Videoconferencing Service that can conduct conferences to thousands of sites throughout the world using ISDN, but increasingly also via the Internet.
